Melanie's interest in sport all started from watching her brother play basketball
Sport, the sporting industry and events make me feel good and I feel in my element and happy place. To quote the movie ‘Billy Elliot’, my passion is just like Billy Elliot’s passion for ballet in: “once I get going... then I like, forget everything. And... sorta disappear. Sorta disappear. Like I feel a change in my whole body. And I've got this fire in my body. I'm just there. Flyin' like a bird. Like electricity.”
I have always had a love of sport. As a child, I started sports and movements very young to improve my coordination skills to help with my mild dyspraxia. I was also inspired by my older brother to start basketball and my first word was basketball, pronounced ’bababall’. My love of sport has led me to study sports management at university and engage in volunteer positions to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the industry.
Since then, Melanie has gone on to work in sport and community events, achieving things like

Improve rates and joy of play and participation in sport, and the benefits of sport on mental health. And the mental health of athletes.

My mild dyspraxia has provided challenges mentally and physically, which has built resilience to allow me to get through a lot.

Attending the 2024 Paris Olympics

Sport tourism, learning something new, cultural, summer and sunny weather and beaches.

“I’m happy to confirm that Melanie Miocevich volunteered at EY Perth for the Tour De Office event from 16 - 20 October 2017. As the organiser of the event, the Tour de Office Foundation coordinated the recruitment, shortlisting and training of all event volunteers. Tour de Office is a national corporate relay cycle event run annually to encourage healthy workplace practices and raise funds for participating charities. Whilst onsite at EY Perth, Melanie performed a number of tasks, including:
