What steps has William taken to break into the sports industry?

  • Through my exercise and sport science degree, I've developed a strong understanding of performance science for elite sport and athletes.

  • I've also actively applied for sports-related roles across Sydney, the Central Coast and Newcastle.

  • Joining the SportsGrad will help expand my network and connections, and to better understand the pathways into professional sport

William’s interest in sport all started from the structure and purpose it gives him

Sport has been a constant in my life and has shaped me into who I am. Sport has given me structure, a purpose both professionally and personally and has connected me to others in ways I couldn't imagine.

Where does William want to go?

Next 6 - 12 months

Next 5 - 10 years

I want to gain practical experience in elite sport, particularly clubs that expose me to athlete performance, team operations, and weekly preparations.

I'm also interested in expanding my network in professional sport to help build connections and explore future opportunities (e.g full/part-time work, internships)

I want to establish myself at a sporting organisation and play a useful role in supporting athletes and coaches from a performance perspective.

What sporting problem keeps William up at night, and how would you solve it?

One problem I'd love to help solve is the accessibility of development pathways in Football. In Australia, progressing through the pathways is very expensive, which limits a lot of opportunities talented young players have to reach the NPL or A-League. I'm interested in finding ways to make these pathways more accessible and sustainable, so young players can pursue these opportunities regardless of financial barriers
