Elias’ interest in sport all started when he was 10 years old…

My life has been linked to tennis and sports since I was 10 years old. It was the way I connected the most with my dad. Also, I find in sports a unique tool to generate positive impact. I think I've accomplished good things as an engineer, but nothing makes me prouder and happier as my achievements in sports.

Where does Elias want to go?

Next six-12 months

Next 5-10 years

First of all I am quitting my engineer job next week, which is a decision I've been thinking about for the past 3 years. My first goal after that is finishing my master's degree in Sports Design and Management, which I aim to complete in September 2026. While I finish my master's my goal is to find my first job in sports, hopefully in tennis. I’m open to different opportunities since this would be my first role in the sports industry. I’m most interested in sports business or business development. I’ve spent years in construction and I’m looking for a change, ideally something that aligns with my interests in tech and finance.

I would like to have my own company. Focused in tennis development.

What sporting problem keeps Elias up at night, and how would they solve it?

In tennis specifically: how hard it is to live from it. I would like to make it more affordable for as many players as possible.

What is Elias like?

  1. What kind of environment do you thrive in?

  • Outdoors, sports related, with my family and friends close.

  1. When have you had to show resilience in your life or career?

  • In life: While playing professional tennis, I had a car accident that ended my ability to compete after a complete quadriceps laceration. I focused on recovery day by day, putting in long hours to get healthy again. Exactly one year later, I completed an Ironman—it felt like a birthday celebration. Career: I’d considered quitting for years, but I kept going. Maybe it was stubbornness as much as resilience—I wanted to finish what I started. A project I was working on in Mexico was cancelled halfway through, and I had to start over in another country. I moved to Australia with the goal of seeing a project through to completion, even if it meant postponing my career transition. In Australia, I finished the project ahead of schedule.

What about Elias’ interests outside of work?

  1. What are your interests outside of work?

  • Reading, playing tennis or doing any form of exercise, going to the beach, spending time with my family.

  1. What is your favourite sporting moment?

  • Novak Djokovic defeating Federer in Wimbledon 2019 final and Federer's farewell at the Laver Cup, holding hands with Nadal.

  1. What’s your ideal holiday?

  • Family, all of it. With any physical activity involved and hopefully under warm weather.

  1. If you had 30 minutes to pick the brain of anyone, who would it be and why?

  • Novak Djokovic. I would like to understand his way of seeing tennis from a tactical perspective. Learn from his approach to life and longevity hacks.

  1. What’s book or podcast that’s helped your career you recommend?

  • Shoe Dog has helped me to keep trying and don't be scared of trying one more time and believe in your dreams.

Additional details

  1. Where in the world are you located, and where are you open to work?

  • Based in Perth, but open to roles anywhere worldwide. I’m currently in Perth on an engineering sponsorship, which restricts me to engineering work. As I transition into the sports industry, I would need new sponsorship to work in Australia; otherwise, I’m looking to relocate to Spain.

  1. What is the most important consideration for you in your next role?

  • Professional development opportunities.
