Reuben’s recommendation

What can Grace do?

  1. Give a quick overview of your work experience (jobs, internships, volunteering)?

  • My full time career experience is in marketing and media, where I have worked on clients across industries such as retail, sport and property. I also maintain a weekend job as a skincare specialist, where I work with customers to understand their skin, products and ingredients.

  1. Do you have a track record of delivering measurable outcomes or KPIs?

  • Yes I do. I worked on a regionally significant football client at a time of immense heartache, following devastating floods in the area. Together, we reworked our strategy to approach with empathy and foster community spirit. Year on year, despite the devastation, we drove a 204% increase in club sign ups.

  1. What technical or industry-specific skills do you bring?

  • I am fully versed in marketing and media across the full funnel. Including traditional, digital, activations and programmatic. I hold certifications across some of the biggest digital platforms and data analysis tools.

What steps has Grace taken to break into the sports industry?

  • I’ve been working on making connections and interactions. I have sent some messages and connection requests and applying for roles that are being advertised

Grace wants to work in sport because…

Some of the best moments of my life have come from events and the community they create. They spark stories that will be told for a lifetime. Like watching the Knights win the 2001 Grand Final with my family and friends. Attending the F1 Melbourne Grand Prix and making friends that you catch up with every year. Ultimately, I want to build stories and communities. I want to be even a small part of sport that sparks that passion within audiences.

Where does Grace want to go?

Next Six-12 months

Next 5-10 years

In 6 months time I would like to be working in a marketing or communications role in the Formula 1. In 12 months time, I hope I’m seeing audiences share and engage with the stories I’ve been creating

I want to work my way up to be a Chief Marketing Officer. To not only look at the marketing strategy, but how it aligns to the broader team and how marketing can support in overall growth.

What sporting problem keeps Grace up at night, and how would you solve it?

Women in sport. We are well on the way to seeing growth here, but even women working behind the scenes in sport is a particular area I would love to see more development in.

What is Grace like?

  1. What kind of environment do you thrive in?

  • Busy environments! I don’t do well in quiet and lowkey places. Give me issues to solve and things to juggle and I’ll be in my element

  1. When have you had to show resilience in your life or career?

  • Resilience is a fundamental part of my being. In my career, I have to showcase resilience all the time. Whether it’s dealing with unhappy clients or technical difficulties. Recently, one of my clients was seeing particularly poor performance from their marketing. Naturally, they were unhappy with this. I took some time to review everything to date, look at opportunities and analyse budgets. From this, I went back to them with a recommendation that didn’t inflate budget but dropped one of their channels, as the opportunity was greater in SEO than Meta. I went back and presented this to them and they agreed, since then, we’ve seen a significant increase in performance. This not only maintained my relationship ship with the client, but also showcased our ability to be resilient and agile.

  1. If you had 30 minutes to pick the brain of anyone, who would it be and why?
