Henry’s interest in sport all started from being around community sport from a very young age

I grew up in the northern suburbs of Adelaide and spent most weekends at local ovals watching my dad play cricket. One of my earliest memories is his final A Grade premiership win when I was four years old, where he brought me into the changerooms and the way the whole club came together afterwards. That moment showed me how powerful sport can be when a community connects around it. Working in sport feels natural to me because I want to help create those same moments for others and contribute to environments where people feel welcome, supported and part of something bigger.

Since then, Henry has gone on to work with Port Adelaide FC, achieving things like

Where does Henry want to go?

Next 6 - 12 months

Next 5 - 10 years

My goal is to step into a full-time role in sport where I can contribute to event delivery and fan experience. I want to continue developing my operational skills, take on more responsibility and build strong relationships across clubs, volunteers and community stakeholders. I am focused on growing into a role where I can help build the next era of engagement and connection in sport.

Over the next 5–10 years, I aim to progress into a senior operations or events management role within the sports industry, building on my experience across event delivery, logistics coordination and stakeholder support.

I’m working toward securing a full‑time position within a professional sporting organisation where I can contribute to the planning and execution of major events, participation programs and operational systems.

As I continue developing my skills in administration, event logistics and team coordination, my long‑term goal is to lead my own team and take responsibility for delivering large‑scale sporting events that create positive experiences for participants, members and fans.

What sporting problem keeps Henry up at night, and how would you solve it?

One problem in sport I would love to help solve is the gap between community participation and long‑term engagement, especially for young people who drift away from sport because of cost, confidence or limited access to inclusive programs. Having worked across events, clinics and participation programs, I’ve seen how powerful sport can be when it’s accessible, welcoming and well‑run, but I’ve also seen how many people miss out because the pathway is unclear or the environment doesn’t fully support them.

I would love to contribute to building systems, events and programs that make sport easier to stay involved in, whether that’s through better communication, more inclusive event design, or creating experiences that make people feel like they belong. If sport can remove those barriers and keep more people engaged for longer, the impact on communities, wellbeing and connection would be enormous.

What is Henry like?

  1. What kind of environment do you thrive in?

  • A creative and adaptable environment

  1. When have you had to show resilience in your life or career?

  • I have demonstrated resilience throughout my life, particularly through experiences that required me to adapt quickly and stay focused despite challenges. Most recently, I navigated a redundancy that occurred due to financial reasons within the organisation. Although it was unexpected, I approached the situation with maturity by reassessing my goals, staying proactive in my job search and continuing to build my skills and industry connections.

  • On a broader level, living with cerebral palsy has taught me resilience from a young age. I have learned how to adapt to different environments, manage daily tasks in my own way and maintain a positive mindset even when things require more effort. These experiences have shaped my ability to stay composed under pressure, persist through setbacks and continue moving forward with determination.

What about Henry’s interests outside of work?

  • Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my mates, my partner, and my family. I’m a massive Baggers fan and love following their games closely. I also play club soccer and cricket, which keeps me active, competitive, and connected with my local sporting community. Sport has always been a big part of my life, both as a player and a supporter.

  1. If you had 30 minutes to pick the brain of anyone, who would it be and why?

  • Scott Pendlebury. Diehard bluebagger, but I have so much respect for that man. The longevity and relevancy in his field are unmatched.

  1. What’s one book or podcast that’s helped your career you recommend?

  • One book that has helped me get better results in my career is ‘Bad As I Wanna Be’ by Dennis Rodman. What stood out to me was how Rodman embraced being different and used his unique personality and strengths to excel at the highest level, even when others doubted him. It reminded me that success does not always come from following the standard path. It comes from knowing your strengths, being adaptable, and not being afraid to think or act differently. This is something I am continuing to work on.
