What can Jack do?

  1. Give a quick overview of your work experience (jobs, internships, volunteering)?

  • Sports Broadcaster for 'Filming Footy' on the local AFL competition in Adelaide. I've been thrust into 3 main roles within the media team:

  • Conducting interviews at clubs, highlighting positives of community footy.

  • Hosting weekly footy show to a systematic and structured format.

  1. Do you have a track record of delivering measurable outcomes or KPIs?

  1. What technical or industry-specific skills do you bring?

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Confidence infront of a camera and with mic in hand.

  • Elite attention to detail displayed by in-depth research and preparation for any presenting I do.

  • Competent in CapCut use for personal branding TikTok's.

  • Have done some OBS work on personal branding also, but very basic.

  1. What qualifications, certifications, or degrees do you hold?

  • SportsGrad Member

  • Australian Radio School certificate

I think I strike the perfect balance between being a genuine sports nuffy, but not over-the-top fanboy.

- On why organisations should take a punt on him

That might sound silly, but it’s important - most athletes and sports personalities don’t want to be put on a pedestal. I’ve got a natural ability to connect with them on a human level, not just as a fan. That makes me the kind of broadcaster who fits in comfortably around big names, while still bringing authenticity, curiosity, and respect to every interaction.

What steps has Jack taken to break into the sports industry?

  • In 2025, I have:

  • At the start of the 2025 season I was just a commentator within our small production team. My output grew exponentially, to me conducting countless interviews, hosting match of the day broadcast and panelling the weekly footy show!

  • Joined SportsGrad and Reuben Williams' SG Method Program - Cohort #1. -

  • Completed "Australian Radio School" by radio industry guru, Sean Craig Murphy.

  • Posting frequently on LinkedIn about my work, building my online presence in the space.

  • Both of those two have been invaluable lessons for me in a lot of soft skills like: networking, positioning myself from a recruiting lens, learning more about myself and my why.

Jack’s interest in sport all started from his interest in listening to commentators take viewers on the journey through iconic sporting moments

I realised very quickly that this hobby of broadcasting, was something that I want to do for a living. Commentators take us along for the ride, complementing the pictures for their audience which form iconic sporting moments we reminisce about years later. I aim to bring future iconic moments to life, as the great broadcasters have done for me. I've grown to love the storytelling aspect of being a broadcaster as well. Whether it's finding the words to describe a team’s path to their first Div 1 GF in club history, live-on-air or extracting the good oil from a player's journey in an interview is an enjoyable process and one I'm loving the craft of.

Since then, Jack has gone on to work in broadcasting, achieving things like

Mass engagement

Conducting interview with sports clubs

Taking on new roles

Content I featured in has garnered ~720,000 views across our different social media platforms for the season.

Conducting interviews at clubs, highlighting positives of community footy. - Hosting weekly footy show to a systematic and structured format.

Since joining ‘Filming Footy I've been thrust into 3 main roles within the media team

Where does Jack want to go?

Next six months

Next 12 months

Next 5-10 years

I want to gain a deep connection with at least 1 decision maker at either TripleM, SEN, FoxSports. This will allow for expert feedback on my work and hopefully a clearer path forward to one day.

Be on the airwaves commentating live sport.

In 5 years time I want to have called a game of AFL live on air, if not already on a roster. In 10 years time I hope I have quit my day job and am in the sports broadcasting space full-time.
