- On why organisations should take a punt on him

I feel my history speaks for itself. I feel I'm an extremely persistent person and a great communicator, things that would hold me in great stead in a high pressure working environment.

What steps has Jack taken to break into the sports industry?

  • I've actively seeked roles in sport to further my knowledge. My time at the Glenunga Football Club was something I found myself, and led to a role at Champion Data.

  • I have also joined the SportsGrad Method and applied its learnings to how I approach job hunting, which has improved my networking and overall output.

  • From there, I secured a chance to work at SportsGrad as a content producer, which I feel has been invaluable to teaching me skills that I can use in that field within the industry.

Jack’s interest in sport all started from a Milo Cricket Clinic…

Funnily enough, I didn't really like sport when I was younger. Never really played until one day, a Milo cricket clinic came into my school when I was about 8, and the rest was history. Fast forward to 2017, and my beloved Adelaide Crows are playing in a prelim final against Geelong to get into the clubs first Grand Final in my lifetime. Being there with my Nan and Pop was amazing, but the highlight for me was when the siren went. Seeing 50,000 people from all different backgrounds coming together because they were connected to the Crows signified to me that sport meant so much more than what happens out on the field. It always stuck with me, and from there, I knew I wanted to increase that connection between fans and organisations in sport.

Where does Jack want to go?

Next Six-12 months

Next 5-10 years

I'd love to gain a full-time role in content, however, I feel I could also make a big impact in a marketing and communications team with my background.

I'd love to be an established content producer in sport, having travelled and worked on some of the biggest events in the world.

What sporting problem keeps Jack up at night, and how would you solve it?

I'd love to solve how the Australian sports industry can involve fans more in its content. At the end of the day, content should revolve around what the fans/viewers want to see, and being able to involve them as much as possible where everyone feels like they belong is something that drives me.

What is Jack like?

  1. What kind of environment do you thrive in?

  • An open environment where communication and collaboration are key.

  1. When have you had to show resilience in your life or career?

  • On a personal level, I faced some tough challenges when I was in high school in relation to my mental health. These challenges saw me expelled from high school in year 10 due to poor attendance, and I personally took a decline. I spent year 11 focusing on myself, started therapy, and used the chance to realign my focus and motivation, with the aim being to get back to my old school in year 12 to finish with my friends. I achieved that goal in the end, and got into my first preference at uni the following year. That's a very streamlined version of the story but it's one of my proudest achievements, especially considering what I've gone on to do since.
