Most recently, I worked as a Marketing Associate at TrustPower Solar where I assisted with digital marketing campaigns, lead generation, and customer engagement. I also work as a Bar Manager at Farm Vigano and assisting the marketing team contributing to event promotion and social media marketing.

  • While I haven’t had specific KPIs, in my marketing roles I’ve contributed to campaigns that boosted engagement and brand visibility.

Someone should take a chance on me because I am passionate about sport and marketing with hands-on experience in multiple marketing roles. I’m a recent graduate and a clean slate, meaning I’m determined to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact, bringing energy and dedication to any team in the sports industry.

What steps has Lorenzo taken to break into the sports industry?

  • I’ve proactively worked to break into the sports industry by reaching out to industry contacts I have, applying to every marketing-related role I’ve seen and joining programs, but never hearing back.

  • I’ve also built my LinkedIn profile to showcase my skills and experience while gaining marketing experience in roles outside the industry to strengthen my capabilities and make myself a stronger candidate for sports marketing opportunities.

Lorenzo’s interest in sport all started from the interactions and connections during sporting events

Since I was little I’ve always been a huge soccer and AFL fan supporting Melbourne Victory and Hawthorn. I love the way sport brings people together even complete strangers, its unlike anything on earth. I’ll never forget the train rides home after games hearing fans share the highs and lows of the match, cheering together, debating key moments or even just being complimented on wearing a teams jersey. Those moments showed me how powerful sport is at creating connection. I’ve worked in industries that didn’t excite me and offered limited opportunity to learn and grow. The sports industry will allow me to do work I’m genuinely passionate about while continuing to develop my skills as a recent graduate.

I’m focused on transitioning from my marketing roles in industries that didn’t excite me into the sports industry where I can do meaningful work I’m passionate about.

My goal is to secure a role such as a marketing associate or assistant within AFL or Soccer applying my skills to engage fans, support club growth, and deliver impactful campaigns while building real industry experience and connections.

Over the next 5–10 years I aim to establish myself as a marketing professional within the sports industry ideally in AFL or Soccer, leading campaigns that drive fan engagement and brand growth.

I want to build a strong track record of delivering impactful marketing initiatives, take on increasing responsibility and become a trusted expert who helps clubs connect with their communities and grow their presence both on and off the field.

What sporting problem keeps Lorenzo up at night, and how would you solve it?

One problem I’d love to solve in sport is the disconnect between clubs and their fans. I believe sport’s greatest asset is the emotion and connection it creates with its fans feeling a sense of family and I want to use marketing to strengthen that bond, create meaningful experiences, and turn casual supporters into lifelong engaged fans.

What is Lorenzo like?

  1. What kind of environment do you thrive in?

I definitely thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment where I can take initiative, learn from experienced professionals and contribute to projects that have a meaningful impact. I’m motivated by opportunities to solve problems.

  1. When have you had to show resilience in your life or career?

I’ve demonstrated resilience by balancing my full-time university studies while working two jobs simultaneously, all while maintaining a social and family life. I’ve also worked in industries that offered little growth or satisfaction which challenged me to stay motivated, continue learning, and focus on my long-term goal of building a meaningful career in marketing.

What about Lorenzo’s interests outside of work?

  1. What are your interests outside of work?

  • Outside of work I’m passionate about staying active and social. I enjoy going to the gym, playing 5-a-side soccer with friends and golf, as well as listening to and discovering new music.

  1. What is your favourite sporting moment?

  • My favourite sporting moment is Hawthorn’s 3-peat. Even though I was young, I remember the excitement, having everyone over for a BBQ, celebrating together and feeling the pure happiness from winning.

  1. What’s your ideal holiday?

  • My ideal holiday is somewhere warm with a beach where I can relax and unwind with those closest to me, sharing experiences and making memories together.

  1. If you had 30 minutes to pick the brain of anyone, who would it be and why?

  • If I had 30 minutes to pick the brain of anyone it would probably have to be Cristiano Ronaldo. I’d love to hear how he has maintained peak performance and connected with fans around the world over such a long career and how he approaches creating moments that inspire passion and loyalty in supporters.

  1. What’s book or podcast that’s helped your career you recommend?

  • Honestly, nothing specific has stood out yet but I’ve learned a lot through university assignments and practical marketing projects which taught me how to research, analyse, and present ideas effectively
