Yes, within my current role I've consistently worked to set KPI's with regard to the number of listings I bring into the business and the number of sales I've made (both per FY and per Quarter).
Within those two bigger KPI's, I am also measuring the amount of calls I make on a daily basis & the amount of property appraisals I complete per week.
The main KPI being Gross Commission Earned for the Business . Over the past 3 years, I have consistently increased this total number. In my most recent FY, I achieved $400,000 worth of Gross Commission being bought into the business, as well as $21,000,000 in total sales volume.

I’ve got 6 years worth of experience in dealing with people and their biggest assets. Now I want to deal with Stakeholders and their biggest assets.
I'm not your stock standard 4th Year Sport Management Uni Student looking for a job. I'm a little different; I've got 6 years’ worth of experience in dealing with people and their biggest assets. Now I want to deal with Stakeholders and their biggest assets, their business. I've got a burning desire to take a leap and this is my chance. All I need is a chance and I'm willing to give it my absolute all to chase a long-term dream of working in sport.
What steps has Mason taken to break into the sports industry?
To be completely honest, stepping into the SportsGrad Method Program has been the biggest step to try and accelerate my career change.
I've spent a lot of time over the past 6-12 months listening to the podcast, studying LinkedIn profiles, as well as job descriptions.
I'm now in the process of starting to build a network within the industry.
Why do you want to work in the sports industry?
Sport has always been at the forefront of my life, it shapes the way I think, the conversations I have, and the way I connect with people. Whether it’s through social media, my friendships, or even my current work, sport is the common thread that ties everything together.
At the age of 19, I began my career in Real Estate, a role I fell into through. family friend. I've discovered a genuine enjoyment for key aspects of the job, such as building relationships, creating marketing strategies, engaging with the community, and seeing a deal progress from start to finish. These experiences have helped me develop strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Yet, despite my success and growth in real estate, I’ve always felt a pull toward something more personally meaningful.
My true passion has always been sport, its ability to bring people together, inspire communities, tell stories and bring out the best in individuals. Aligning my career with that passion feels like a natural next step. I’m beyond keen to combine my professional experience with my lifelong love of sport to build a career that is both fulfilling and impactful.

When have you had to show resilience in your life or career?
Within my current role, I am consistently trying to sell myself to engage in new business on a daily basis. One of the hardest things I've had to overcome in my role is going up against competitors when pitching for a client’s business and being told we've picked the other person because 'they have more experience' or 'they have been around for longer than you'.
When I first started in my role, there is no doubt this really started to play on my mind. I soon realised though that if I let it play on my mind, I am going to get stuck in a rut. So to answer the question, I was very quick to show resilience within my role, by backing myself in when pitching business and being my enthusiastic self.
At the end of the day, my favourite saying is 'enthusiasm beats experience' and that's something I've stood by in my career and will certainly take into this new and exciting chapter!
What about Mason’s interests outside of work?
What are your interests outside of work?
Well.... sport, oops! I play Basketball twice a week, Indoor Soccer once a week and Mixed Netball once a week, in amongst all of that Gym 4 times a week too. My life literally revolves around sport.
When I'm not playing sport, I'm an Essendon nuffie and a huge Toronto Raptors Fan, so watching sport certainly keeps me entertained.
Other than sport, spending time at the Beach with my partner Emma and my dog Beau.
What is your favourite sporting moment?
Kawai Leonard's game-winning Buzzer Beater in Game 7 of the 2019 Eastern Conference Finals or Buddy Franklin kicking 1,000 goals has got to be up there.
What’s your ideal holiday?
Warm weather, close to a beach and a few nice restaurants. Byron Bay is my number 1 spot in Aus.
If you had 30 minutes to pick the brain of anyone, who would it be and why?
Gillon McLachlan, would love some insight into running the AFL for 10 years, securing the biggest sports media rights deal in Aus history and the establishment of two new clubs.
What’s a book or podcast that’s helped your career you recommend?
Both of the Resiliance Project books, understanding gratitude and empathy really helped me when dealing with clients and expectations.

What others say about Mason?
Mason was amazing to deal with from the first time meeting until the house was sold. Mason went above and beyond; he was so open and enthusiastic and genuine to deal with, made the whole process so seamless and straightforward. Could not recommend him highly enough. Over the course of that year, we kept in touch, looking for an opportunistic time to enter the market & sell my unit.
From the moment I first met Mason, his open & honest communication quickly built trust & rapport. His willingness to listen, collaborate, coupled with drive & dedication to his work ultimately was the foundation of our successes. If you’re looking for a local agent who’ll give it to you straight & knows how to deliver… look no further.
Mason Torney was an absolute standout throughout the entire selling process. His drive and determination to get the best result really showed, and it was clear from day one. He went above and beyond to make the whole experience smooth and stress-free, keeping me updated and in the loop every step of the way. Mason’s work ethic and commitment to his clients are second to none. I’m so glad I had him in my corner. Highly recommend!
