- On why organisations should take a punt on him

What sets me apart is my mix of Sports Management and Business qualifications with hands-on experience in events, hospitality and team leadership. Giving me a chance means gaining someone ready to make an immediate impact in the sporting industry.

What steps has Tim taken to break into the sport industry?

  • Tim went back to university to complete a Sports Management degree and has been actively reaching out to industry connections which led him to working at the 2026 Australian Open

Tim has always been passionate about sport and the way it brings people together…

The behind the scenes of sporting organisations has always interested me and having a brief taste with it this year at the Australian Open only made me want to contribute to this even more. Before COVID my career was focused around operations/customer service but during the COVID break I realised I wanted to chase some of my passions. One of which was beer brewing which I have successfully did and the other focus of mine was sport. This led me to going back to uni to complete my diploma in sports management last year and now that is completed main focus is trying to break in to the industry. I believe my varied background of multiple skills can help to contribute to any sporting environment.

Where does Tim want to go?

Next six-12 months

Next 5-10 years

Gaining a role within the sports industry in order to pivot my career into a job that I am passionate and excited about. This paired with the opportunity for growth is my main focus in the immediate future.

In 5–10 years, I aim to be in a senior leadership role within the sports industry, overseeing operations, events or fan engagement at a major sporting organisation. I want to lead high-performing teams, shape exceptional experiences for fans and partners and contribute strategically to the growth and success of the organisation.

What sporting problem keeps Tim up at night, and how would they solve it?

Continue to streamline the process for fans and enhance their experience through things like the grab and go food/drink areas that have recently been installed at Marvel stadium.

What is Tim like?

  1. What kind of environment do you thrive in?

  • A fast paced evolving environment

  1. When have you had to show resilience in your life or career?

  • There are two that come to mind: The first is when COVID struck and I was working overseas and had to return to Australia with no real indication on what my future looked like personally/professionally. Although this was tough at first it has enabled me to follow my passions which has led me to where I am today.

  • The second would be staying at my current role when it looked like the company was going to be restructured due to a change in ownership. This created stress for myself and also our customers which I had to work through with them a reassure everything was going to be okay. This went on for about six months but allowed me to complete my degree in the background which I might not have been able to if I didn't stay resilient and back the company.

What about Tim’s interests outside of work?

  1. What are your interests outside of work?

  • Outside of work I am a passionate AFL, NRL, Cricket & F1 fan and always know what is happening in those codes (to my partner's annoyance)

  • I play tennis and have recently picked up pickleball too which is always fun. I love the craft beer scene and love the socialising aspect of it.

  1. What is your favourite sporting moment?

  • It would have to be where St Kilda beat the Demons in 2025. The Saints won after pulling off one of the craziest comebacks of all time by overturning a 46‑point three‑quarter‑time deficit and kicking the winning goal after the final siren. The atmosphere in that last quarter is something I will always remember.

  1. What’s your ideal holiday?

  • My ideal holiday would be to go for a week of skiing in the Japanese Alps or head up for a beach weekend on the sunshine coast.

  1. If you had 30 minutes to pick the brain of anyone, who would it be and why?

  • Probably the NRL coach Wayne Bennett as he has this remarkable ability to connect with players from different generations and consistently gets them playing to the best of their ability.

  1. What’s book or podcast that’s helped your career you recommend?

  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck by Mark Manson has helped me shape my mindset by prioritising what matters.
